We're blessed to have some of the finest baristas and bakers in town.
One of our team of bakers, Amelia is undaunted by, well, pretty much anything. She bakes like a fiend, pours a lovely Rosetta, and helps run the East Main kitchen just for fun. You'll find her at the East Main shop and most often with a glowing smile.
Sumner is like the Energizer Bunny -- she just keeps going. And going. And ... well, going. Sumner is on it. She just is. She's always on it. She multitasks like a mad woman (compliment), anticipates like a Russian chess pro, and makes everyone around her happier. She just does. Sumner is taking this spring off to focus on school, but vows to return to Cafe M this summer.
Lauren basically owns the shop, though not literally. She's a born manager with the perfect blend of irrepressible optimism, obsessive compulsive disorder (compliment), attention to detail, and a resilient smile. Lauren spends a lot of time at the East Main shop, but also serves as a General Manager while overseeing pretty much every aspect of Cafe M.
That's Eben. He's a goofball. He's also a food nut whose instincts in the kitchen are pretty much unparalleled. Eben started with Cafe M as a Barista but wandered into the kitchen side of things never to return (to drinks, that is). Eben is almost entirely responsible for the transformation of our East Main food menu. He's positively obsessed with the next dish, constantly pairing new ingredients, nagging for more eclectic items, and pulling together some amazing flavors. His Aroi Maak and Garbanzo wraps are to die for, and he will have already started work on his next special by the time you finish this paragraph.
Cute story. Madison (3rd from right) entered her first Throw Down in February at the Daily. Nervous from the get go, she made it through the first round. And then the second round. And third. And finally lost to a veteran latte art competition barista in the finals. Ever humble, she gave us all a thrill. Pictured from left to right: Kevin, Eliana, Alyssa, Madison, Hannah, and Evan.
Why is it so hard to photograph the photographer? That's not a Buddhist proverb; it's just a fact. This is as close to a head shot of Alyssa as we could get. Alyssa's off in Bali now, chasing the travel bug and the next adventure. At Cafe M, Alyssa is a savvy barista who learned the craft about as fast as anyone we've seen. While not dropping tulips on lattes, Alyssa helps with our Instagram and social media presence. She's also mother to the mischievous gnomes.
Bob's a gnome. Gnomes are mischievous little guys (and gals, I presume). Bob likes to steal Cafe M Gift Cards and hide them around the county. He drops clues on Instagram while sipping single origin espresso and reading Thoreau. We like Bob.
Jordann splits her time between our Belgrade and East Main shops, and splits her attention between pouring wickedly good lattes and laughing with her co-workers. She's friends with just about everyone, accomplished on the bar, and even dabbled in the bakery. Travel adventures await, but for now ... you'll find Jordann behind the counter most days.
Alex is kind of sneaky. She's quiet, so you think. Until she talks your head off. She's reserved, so you thought. Until she steps forward and takes charge. She's mellow, until you realize that she's really fired up. Alex splits her time in Bozeman, working at both the Kagy and East Main locations. She loves her co-workers, though perhaps a bit less than her dog. No offense, she really loves her dog!
Kylee is a Belgrade High School graduate, MSU undergrad, and Belgrade Cafe M staple. Newer to coffee, Kylee shot through the normal barista learning curve and excels at just about every facet of the position. Rumor has it she's going to grace the Bozeman shops with her mature presence soon.
